Day 46 – Harmonizing Conflicting Tendencies
Today, my challenge is to confront my inner critic by examining the criticism I might not like to attempt to glean some nuggets of truth.
I tend to find myself caught up in a standoff between being a dreamer, a planner, and a procrastinator. I have noticed that when I feel strongly about an idea, I am motivated to take action right away. However, this mix of characteristics can lead to a kind of "standoff" within myself, causing difficulty in making decisions due to conflicting tendencies.
As I reflect upon the book-writing process I began earlier this year, the intricacy of my methods becomes evident. My initial enthusiasm for the topic propelled me forward, empowering me to craft something worth sharing with the world.
However, after completing the first draft, my focus shifted towards the numerous tasks related to self-publication and marketing. Despite these efforts, I find myself [months later] without a draft that is ready for publication.
My hope is that this ongoing self-awareness journey might help me overcome decision paralysis by continuing to acknowledge the various attributes of my approaches and find new ways to harmonize them.
